PDP Urges Tinubu to Address Nigerians Amid Nationwide Protest

Amid the ongoing national protests against economic hardship and escalating hunger, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has raised concerns about President Bola Tinubu’s silence.

The party is troubled by Tinubu’s lack of response as Nigerians demand good governance, security, and welfare – essential obligations of the government.

Expressing worry, the PDP believes that Tinubu’s silence conveys a negative message, leading to increased public apprehension that the APC is neglecting the citizens’ plight and the nation’s growing challenges.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, urged President Tinubu to communicate promptly with the nation on urgent actions to lower fuel prices, stabilize the currency, and ensure efficient food supply, among other crucial matters.

“Demanding immediate action from President Tinubu to address Nigerians on critical issues such as reducing fuel prices, preventing currency depreciation, and ensuring timely food provision to boost productivity, create jobs, and restore stability,” the statement emphasized.

“President Tinubu’s silence is alarming, fueling public concern that the APC government is out of touch with citizens’ needs and the deteriorating national condition.”

“It is disconcerting that while Nigerians protest for better governance, security, and welfare, President Tinubu remains silent.”

“With dismay, we witness security agencies under APC control targeting, shooting, and killing unarmed demonstrators, while alleged APC thugs unleash violence on innocent citizens. Our party calls for an end to President Tinubu’s silence, urging him to address the nation promptly and reassure the populace on crucial matters like lowering fuel and food prices. We maintain that, through efficient, transparent resource management, investment in refining capacity, and leveraging economic potential, petrol prices should not exceed N200 per liter in Nigeria.”
