Pastor Olatunbosun: Younger Generations Lack Appreciation for Their Fathers on Father’s Day

In Abeokuta, Ogun State, a Christian clergyman named Timothy Olatunbosun expressed sorrow over the lack of appreciation and celebration for fathers by younger generations.

Pastor Olatunbosun, who leads the Ibara Baptist Church in Abeokuta, highlighted the fact that fathers, despite being superheroes who make significant sacrifices for their families, are not given the value they deserve by their loved ones.

During the 2024 Father’s Day celebration, he delivered a sermon titled ‘Fathers Are Superheroes’ where he shared these concerns.

He cautioned that some children challenge their fathers with questions like, “What have you done that nobody else has?” and warned them to tread carefully.

According to him, “Everything revolves around the family, yet the family often fails to acknowledge the father’s efforts.

“This generation’s language is one of questioning fathers about their unique contributions. Young people need to be cautious,” he added.

Encouraging children to show gratitude towards their parents and guardians, the pastor stressed the principle of reaping what one sows in relationships.

“Many of you fail to recognize the hard work put in by your fathers, parents, or guardians. If you continue this trend, you may face even greater challenges in the future due to lack of preparation,” he warned.

He also pointed out how the prevalence of “social media and superficial lifestyles” has had a negative impact on family dynamics, urging fathers to maintain their roles as positive influences effectively.
