ASUU urges Tinubu to revamp Nigeria’s tertiary institutions
President Bola Tinubu has been urged by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to address the union's pleas for the overhaul of the country's tertiary institutions.
Expressing disappointment over the neglect of their demands by past administrations, ASUU highlighted that the ongoing crises and continued agitation since 2022 are a direct result of the failure to implement these demands.
During a press conference at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), the Zonal Coordinator of ASUU, AKure Zone, Adeola Egbedokin, emphasized that the ruling class in the nation displays apathy towards the well-being of universities, leading many dedicated academics to seek opportunities elsewhere.
