Escalating Malnutrition Crisis Among Children in North-East, Warns UNICEF
UNICEF has expressed deep concerns regarding the rapidly increasing cases of acute malnutrition among children in Marte local government area of Borno state, attributed to limited access for humanitarian workers.
The United Nations agency highlighted that prolonged conflicts have severely impacted the agricultural productivity of households, leading to a rise in food insecurity.
Following a recent field mission to Marte LGA in Borno State, UNICEF Emergency Manager, Andrea Malatesta, emphasized the urgent need for a comprehensive response to address the escalating levels of malnutrition among children in northeast Nigeria.
