According to Lt-Col. Musa Yahaya, the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for 1 Division Nigerian Army, troops successfully neutralised seven insurgents and recovered weapons and motorcycles in Kaduna. The operation took place on May 19 when troops were deployed at a blocking position at Udawa and conducted a fighting patrol along Udawa – Kurebe road. During the patrol, the troops encountered insurgents and engaged in a fierce firefight, resulting in the elimination of five terrorists and violent extremists.
