Pirates allegedly kill four Nigerian navy personnel in Ondo community

A tragic incident unfolded in Gagira, a suburb of Awoye coastal community in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State over the weekend as four Nigerian navy personnel were reportedly killed by sea pirates. The naval ratings met their demise during an exchange of gunfire with the pirates, which occurred after the abduction of three foreigners. Following the incident, naval personnel have been dispatched to the community to search for the sea pirates and the military rifles of the deceased ratings. Commanding Officer, Forward Operating Base in Igbokoda, Commodore Danjuma Ndanusa, imposed a curfew on the community and insisted that the four military rifles and seven magazines stolen during the gun duel must be produced. A Victory for Naira Marley as Car Theft Charge is Struck Out by Court

The police's car theft charge against Nigerian rapper Adeyemi Fashola a.k.a Naira Marley, along with his two siblings Idris and Babatunde Fashola, and their cousin Kunle Obere, was struck out by a magistrate court in Lagos on Tuesday, January 14. During today's trial, Naira Marley and his co-defendants were accused of stealing a Toyota Camry with Registration No. FEE 120 AA valued at N1.8m and an iPhone X5 worth N330,000. Despite Naira Marley's absence at the trial, the court dismissed the car theft charge following the submission of a settlement agreement between the complainant Mr. Adelekan Ademola and the four defendants. This agreement was reached after Chief Magistrate Tajudeen Elias warned of issuing an arrest order for Naira Marley.

Ambulance conveying corpse of Catholic Priest's mother gutted by fire (photos)

The fire gutted an ambulance transporting the body of Mrs. Onyemata, the mother of Rev. Fr. Alex Onyemata, a Catholic priest from the Okigwe Catholic Diocese in Imo State. The incident occurred over the weekend as the ambulance was en route to Mercy Mortuary in Umulogho community, Obowo. The fire was caused by a petrol leakage, but thankfully the corpse was rescued from the flames. Eyewitnesses shared that family members and other mourners had to walk with the stretcher carrying the corpse to the mortuary after the fire incident on the Owerri-Umuahia expressway. Photos of the incident show the dramatic scene of the fiery ambulance.
