Rappers, Jay-Z and Yo Gotti file lawsuit against Mississippi prison officials on behalf of 29 inmates
Initiating legal action, Rappers Jay-Z and Yo Gotti have sued two Mississippi prison officials, representing 29 inmates who have been affected by the recent violence that resulted in the deaths of five prisoners over the past two weeks.
In the U.S. District Court in Greenville, Mississippi, a lawsuit was filed by Jay-Z's lawyer, Alex Spiro, on Tuesday, alleging that the deaths were a direct consequence of the state's negligence towards its incarcerated individuals and their constitutional rights.
Addressing Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant and DOC Commissioner Pelicia Hall in a letter dated January 9, Spiro, on behalf of Jay-Z and Yo Gotti, expressed their readiness to pursue all possible avenues to seek relief for the prisoners and their families living in Mississippi's prisons....
