The final year of Benue State University, BSU, Makurdi ended in tragedy for two students of Mass Communication and Sociology who were shot dead by alleged rival cult members in the Gyado Villa area of Makurdi town on Monday night. Sesugh Simonpeter Shija and Valentine Simon were at a football viewing centre when the assailants stormed the venue and shot them at close range. An eyewitness described the incident, recalling that the victims attempted to escape but were ultimately gunned down, while the killers fled the scene.
