Alleged N32.9bn fraud leads to EFCC’s re-arraignment of Mompha

Today, Ismaila Mustapha (aka Mompha) was re-arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, before Justice Mohammed Liman at a Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos. The charges against Mompha are related to an alleged N32.9billion fraud.   Mompha and his company, Ismalob Ventures, were initially arraigned on November 25th 2019 on a 14-count charge, which included allegations of fraud, money laundering, and unauthorized foreign exchange business by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.    During the latest hearing, the EFCC's counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo, presented a second amended charge against Mompha and requested the court to allow a fresh plea.
