Three Ansaru Members Apprehended in Kaduna

Following an ongoing mop-up operation in Kuduru Forest, the Nigerian Police has successfully apprehended three individuals linked to the Ansaru Terror Group in Kaduna State. The captured suspects have been identified as Munkailu Liman Isah a.k.a Babban Driver’m’ aged 32, Abdullahi Saminu a.k.a Danmunafiki ‘m’ aged 21, and Aminu Usman. The Kaduna Police Command has confirmed that the detained Ansaru members are cooperating in providing information regarding the group's members, criminal/operational records, logistics, and overall modus operandi. Lassa fever kills four in Kogi

The state Ministry of Health in Kogi has confirmed four deaths out of nine new cases of Lassa Fever. This recent outbreak has led to a total of 31 suspected cases, one probable case, 17 negative cases, nine confirmed cases, and five pending laboratory results, as stated by the state's epidemologist Austin Ojotule on Sunday, February 9. Of the confirmed cases, two are from Ibaji local government, two from Okene, three from Idah, and one each from Okehi and Igalamela Local Government Areas. Presently, a total of 177 contacts have been line-listed with ongoing contact tracing and follow-up.

Three Nigerian Soldiers Receive 10-Year Prison Sentences for Fatally Injuring a Fellow Soldier

On Friday, February 7, three Nigerian soldiers were convicted of manslaughter by a general court-martial at the army headquarters in Abuja. Subsequently, they were handed 10-year prison terms. During the three-year trial, an Army Captain known only as Amosu was acquitted while majors Akeem Oseni and Ogbemudia Osawe, along with second lieutenant Nuhu Dogary, were found guilty of fatally injuring lance corporal Collins Benjamin. This offense is punishable by life imprisonment under section 105 of the Armed Forces Act 2004.
