EFCC’s Operation at Popular Night Club in Ibadan Leads to Arrest of 89 Suspected Yahoo Boys

89 suspected internet fraudsters have been apprehended by the Ibadan zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, at the well-known Club 360 on the Akala Expressway, Oluyole Extension in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.   According to a statement from the antigraft agency, the club is well-known for accommodating "yahoo-yahoo boys."    “Officers of the commission conducted discreet surveillance on the nightclub before the late-night operation. Intelligence indicated that the club was a notorious hub for suspected internet fraudsters. The raid resulted in the seizure of numerous vehicles, laptops, advanced phones, and other items. The suspects are currently undergoing further interrogation,'' read the statement

Massive leatherback sea turtle caught in Bayelsa state (photos)

An enormous leatherback sea turtle was captured by fishermen in Foropa Community, Bayelsa State, surprising everyone.   What happened to the animal after its capture on Friday, January 17 is unknown. There are concerns that it might end up being killed and consumed by the members of the community.     In a previous incident in February 2019, a dolphin was also captured in the same community.     Below are additional photos of the leatherback sea turtle caught in Foropa.

Supreme Court’s Verdict on Aminu Tambuwal’s Election in Sokoto

The election of Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State has been upheld by the Supreme Court, following the March 23rd 2019 governorship election. Tambuwal ran as the PDP candidate in the election.   In a unanimous judgment by Justice Uwani Abba-Aji, the apex court rejected the appeal filed by APC governorship candidate, Aliyu Ahmed. This was on the grounds that he failed to substantiate his allegation of non-compliance with the electoral act and issues of over-voting in favor of Tambuwal during the election.   The court subsequently dismissed his petition.

**Supreme court upholds Governor Ganduje’s election** “`html Supreme court upholds election of Governor Ganduje

``` The Supreme Court has upheld the election of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as the Governor of Kano State under the All Progressives Congress (APC) party.    The petition filed by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abba Kabir Yusuf, was struck out by a seven-man panel of the court which unanimously held that it lacked merit.    In the lead judgement, Justice Sylvester Ngwuta stated that the petitioner failed to provide cogent reason for the apex court to set aside the judgement of the two lower courts (election tribunal and Court of Appeal) which upheld Ganduje's election.  ```
