Three new cases of Coronavirus reported in FCT, Ogun, and Bauchi

Recorded in the FCT, Ogun, and Bauchi states, three new cases of Coronavirus have emerged.   As per the Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC, these new cases have a travel history to Germany and the UK.   Ogun state government confirmed the third case. The state Commissioner of Health, Tomi Coker, announced that the new case is a 62-year-old male resident of Sagamu with recent travel history, returning to the Country on March 17th, 2020.   She mentioned that the patient has been moved to the Isolation Centre at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu, for isolation and further observation.

Boko Haram Engages in Deadly Ambush, Killing 47 Soldiers in Borno: Military Confirms

Confirming recent events, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) stated that Boko Haram insurgents have killed 47 soldiers in an attack.   Major General John Enenche, the Director of Defence Information, disclosed this during a session with journalists in Abuja. House of Representatives Adjourns Plenary for Two Weeks Due to Coronavirus

On Tuesday, March 24, Nigeria's House of Representatives made the decision to adjourn plenary in the green chamber for a period of two weeks.   The motion for the adjournment was moved by the house leader Ado Doguwa (Kano) and seconded by Peter Akpatason (APC, Edo).   Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila, announced the adjournment, stating that the decision was necessary in response to the global coronavirus pandemic.   Gbajabiamila emphasized that this measure was not a holiday, but rather a necessary step to comply with social distancing and isolation guidelines, which have been proven effective in preventing the secondary transmission of COVID-19.   This announcement came shortly after the Senate also made the decision to adjourn on the same day.
