The Nigerian Ports Authority Disputes NCDC Claims of New Covid-19 Cases Found on a Vessel in Lagos

Confirmation of 12 new cases of Coronavirus in Lagos was announced by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Thursday night. The agency's tweet mentioned that 6 of the cases were identified on a vessel that arrived in Lagos.   Challenging this assertion, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has demanded the NCDC provide information about the vessel where the cases were supposedly found.   Expressing their discontent on Twitter through their official handle, NPA stated; Hello @NCDCgov. In respect to the 6 new cases that "were detected on a vessel" in Lagos, the Authority in collaboration with Port Health has not recorded any confirmed cases to date.

14 new confirmed cases of Coronavirus reported in Nigeria, with 12 in Lagos and 2 in FCT

The NCDC has confirmed 14 new cases of Coronavirus.   According to a tweet posted on Thursday evening, the agency stated that 12 new cases were reported in Lagos and 2 in Abuja.   Out of the 12 confirmed cases in Lagos, 6 were identified on a vessel, while three are returning travellers.   Currently, the total number of confirmed Coronavirus cases in Nigeria is 65.
