​The termination of the Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mustapha Maihaja, by President Buhari has been announced. Kano state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, relaxes lockdown order by President Buhari amid spike in COVID-19 cases in the state

Amid a spike in the number of COVID-19 cases in the state, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano has relaxed the lockdown order imposed on the state by President Buhari.   The President had imposed a total lockdown on the state on April 27 to allow health officials to monitor the situation.    During a press conference at the state government house on Saturday evening, May 2, Governor Ganduje announced that there would be free movement in the state on Mondays and Thursdays between 10 am and 4 pm.   He also stated that all major markets in the state would remain closed, except Ya’nkaba and Ya’nlemo markets where vegetables and fruits are sold. Emir of Rano dies after being hospitalized

The Emir of Rano has passed away after being hospitalized. The late Emir of Rano, Tafida Abubakar Illa, has passed away. Earlier reports indicated that he was referred to Nassarawa Specialist Hospital after being admitted at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital due to an undisclosed ailment. Secretary of Rano Emirate council, Sank Haruna, confirmed the Kano Monarch's death, stating he received the news at 5pm on Saturday, May 2. Osun Discharges Index Case of Coronavirus after 38 Days
