NYSC Faces Demand for Skirt Inclusion from Serve With Skirts Movement
During the protests on January 16, the Serve With Skirts Movement called for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to include skirts in its uniform.
Young men and women participated in the protest. The women were dressed in Khaki skirts and carried banners with inscriptions such as "there is a difference between the world and the daughters of God" and “our sisters cannot dress like men.”
Udochi Emmanuel, leader of the group, voiced that harassment for wearing skirts in NYSC orientation camps violated their fundamental human rights under Section 38(1) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
