The deposed Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, was taken away in a helicopter this afternoon from his new residence in Nasarawa state to another home in Awe town. Awe is relatively remote compared to Loko, a small mini-port town along the bank of the River Benue. The reason for the change in location has not been disclosed. The taskforce officers arrived at the market on Tuesday morning to demolish the temporary shops. According to the traders, the shops were allocated to them by the FCT authorities, despite being issued a quit notice a few days ago. Angered by the actions of the demolition officers, the aggrieved traders proceeded to set fire to the temporary office of the task force and also barricaded parts of the road.
