US Soccer Cancels Winter Training Camp in Qatar Following Killing of Iranian Quds Force Commander

Amid escalating tensions in the Middle East following the United States airstrike that killed Commander of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds Force Unit, Qasem Soleimani, the men's US national team has decided to cancel its winter training camp in Qatar. US Soccer issued a brief statement, saying, "Due to the developing situation in the region, US Soccer has decided to postpone traveling to Qatar for the Men's National Team's scheduled January training camp." The organization expressed its intent to work with the Qatar Football Association to reschedule the training camp in the near future. A Nigerian Muslim lady, Folake Adebola, who resides in the US, took to Twitter to share her story of getting sent home from her job in Fort Worth, Dallas, for wearing a hijab.   Folake, who is 22 years old, revealed that she converted to Islam in August 2019 before she started working at Chicken Express restaurant in October 2019. She mentioned that the day she was sent home was the first time she wore the hijab to work.    She disclosed that she had informed her employer about being a Muslim before being employed. The portrait, which was taken by Ranald Mackechnie in the Throne Room at Buckingham Palace on December 18, captures the 93-year-old monarch alongside the Prince of Wales, Duke of Cambridge, and six-year-old Prince George, all direct heirs to the throne. This royal photograph is only the second time that a portrait of Her Majesty and her three heirs has been released, with the first being issued in April 2016 to celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday.
