Rilwanu Mohammed, the executive secretary Bauchi State  Primary Health Care Development Agency,  announced on Thursday  that there were  three  fresh  cases of Lassa fever in the state. 15 people suspected of carrying the virus  are  under observation, he told journalists in Bauchi. He  said  samples of the tests conducted on the  15 suspected cases have been sent to the National Disease Control Center in Abuja for authentication. A 21-year-old named Tokunbo Lekan was arrested by the Lagos State Police after reportedly breaking into the Anglican Church of Triumphant in the Ipaja area of Lagos state to steal. He admitted to stealing a power generating set, electric wire, welding machine, and other items worth about N400,000 from the church. Lekan, who confessed to abandoning his job as a mechanic in favor of stealing from churches, entered the church in the evening, stayed until 2am, and was then apprehended when he returned to retrieve forgotten tools. US denies UK request for extradition of American diplomat who fled UK after killing British teenager

The United States has rejected the United Kingdom's request to extradite American citizen Anne Sacoolas, the wife of an American diplomat, who caused the death of British teenager Harry Dunn in a car accident last August. Harry Dunn, 19, was fatally injured while riding a motorcycle on August 27 after being hit by a vehicle driven by Sacoolas, who was driving on the wrong side of the road in Croughton, central England. Croughton hosts a Royal Air Force station under US Air Force control. After the incident, Sacoolas claimed diplomatic immunity and left the country. A former vigilante, Vincent Akande, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for raping a 14-year-old epileptic girl at gunpoint.   An Edo state magistrate court handed down the sentence for the rape of the minor, who suffers from epilepsy.   Akande assaulted the victim while she was collecting stones for sale by the riverside in the Ososo community.   In his ruling, Nosa Musoe, chief magistrate of the Igarra magistrate court in Akoko-Edo, condemned the "outrageous" incidents of sexual assaults in the local government area.   BraveHeart Initiative (BHI), an NGO advocating for abuse victims, welcomed the verdict and has been diligently following up on the case to ensure justice for the victim.
