Rilwanu Mohammed, the executive secretary Bauchi State  Primary Health Care Development Agency,  announced on Thursday  that there were  three  fresh  cases of Lassa fever in the state. 15 people suspected of carrying the virus  are  under observation, he told journalists in Bauchi. The United States has rejected the United Kingdom's request to extradite American citizen Anne Sacoolas, the wife of an American diplomat, who caused the death of British teenager Harry Dunn in a car accident last August. Harry Dunn, 19, was fatally injured while riding a motorcycle on August 27 after being hit by a vehicle driven by Sacoolas, who was driving on the wrong side of the road in Croughton, central England. A former vigilante, Vincent Akande, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for raping a 14-year-old epileptic girl at gunpoint.   An Edo state magistrate court handed down the sentence for the rape of the minor, who suffers from epilepsy.   Akande assaulted the victim while she was collecting stones for sale by the riverside in the Ososo community.   In his ruling, Nosa Musoe, chief magistrate of the Igarra magistrate court in Akoko-Edo, condemned the "outrageous" incidents of sexual assaults in the local government area.   BraveHeart Initiative (BHI), an NGO advocating for abuse victims, welcomed the verdict and has been diligently following up on the case to ensure justice for the victim.
