313 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Nigeria

On Sunday, May 24, 2020, Nigeria reported 313 new cases of COVID-19. The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed that 148 cases were recorded in Lagos,  36 in FCT, 27 in Rivers, 19 in Edo,  13 in Kano, 12 in Ogun, 11 in Ebonyi, 8 in Nasarawa, 8 in Delta, 7 in Oyo, 6 in Plateau, 5 in Kaduna, 4 in Kwara, 3 in Akwa Ibom, 3 in Bayelsa, 2 in Niger, and 1 in Anambra State.   The total number of COVID-19 cases in Nigeria now stands at 7839, with 2263 patients discharged from various isolation centers and 226 recorded deaths.

From Lebanon, 50 trafficked Nigerian girls and 19 stranded Nigerians have been successfully brought back to Nigeria.   The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffery Onyeama, revealed this on his verified Twitter handle, announcing that the group arrived in Nigeria on Sunday, May 24. Assisted by the Lebanese Government and the Lebanese community in Nigeria, 50 trafficked Nigerian girls and 19 stranded Nigerians were evacuated from #Lebanon and safely returned to Nigeria.   These individuals will now undergo the mandatory 14-day isolation period.

31 more COVID-19 patients discharged in Lagos

The recovery and discharge of 31 COVID-19 patients have been announced by the Lagos State Ministry of Health. The discharged patients consist of 12 females and 19 males, all of whom tested negative for the virus twice. According to the ministry's verified Twitter account, 13 of the patients were discharged from Onikan, 11 from Gbagada, five from Agidingbi, one from Infectious Disease Hospital in Yaba, and one from the LUTH Isolation Centre. This latest development brings the total number of COVID-19 recoveries in the state to 738.
