Top 20 LGAs in Nigeria with the Highest Covid-19 Cases

A recent report from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has indicated that 11 out of the 20 local government areas, accounting for 60% of COVID-19 cases, are located in Lagos State.   The report, obtained over the weekend, revealed that Lagos Mainland council has reported the highest number of COVID-19 cases at 1,274.    Following Lagos Mainland are Abuja Municipal council with 536 cases, Mushin Local Government Area in Lagos with 458 cases, Eti-Osa Local Government Area in Lagos with 403 cases, and Tarauni in Kano State with 248 cases of COVID-19.   The report also highlighted that 7,276 confirmed cases (74%) have unknown sources of exposure, indicating heightened community transmission.   The report was shared before the confi...

Update: Nigeria Reports 416 New COVID-19 Cases

As of Monday, June 1, 2020, Nigeria has confirmed 416 new cases of COVID-19.    The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported 192 cases in Lagos, 41 in Edo, 33 in Rivers, 30 in Kaduna, 23 in Kwara, 18 in Nasarawa, 17 in Borno, 14 in FCT, 10 in Oyo, 7 in Katsina, 5 in Abia, 5 in Delta, 4 in Adamawa, 4 in Kano, 3 in Imo, 3 in Ondo, 2 in Benue, 2 in Ogun, and 1 in Niger state.    The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nigeria now stands at 10,578. Additionally, 3,122 patients have been discharged from various isolation centers across the country, while the death toll has reached 299.
