After almost seven years of marriage, US singer Kelly Clarkson files for divorce from husband

Kelly Clarkson, the American singer, has filed for divorce from her husband, Brandon Blackstock, after nearly seven years of marriage.   The Blast obtained court documents revealing that the American Idol winner quietly filed for divorce in Los Angeles last week.    Clarkson and Blackstock began dating in 2011 and tied the knot in 2013. They share two children, five-year-old daughter River Rose and four-year-old son Remington Alexander.    Blackstock also has a 13-year-old son, Seth, and a 17-year-old daughter, Savannah, from his previous marriage to Melissa Ashworth. The news of their divorce comes a few weeks after Clarkson, reportedly worth $45 million, put her Encino, California home up for sale, listing the property for just under $10 million.

Facing legal action is the woman who accused her upcoming wedding schoolmate of rape.   Ebele Muogbo a.k.a Lighthouse Beacon, the accuser, is being taken to court for making similar allegations in 2015 and 2017. She is being accused of engaging in consensual sex with Femi Oloidi, who is now a lecturer at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.   The petition has been filed against Muogbo and her friend, Mark Anthony Osuchukwu.

Nigerian writer, Chimamanda Nigozi Adichie’s father dies at 88

The passing of Professor James Nwoye Adichie, the father of the esteemed Nigerian writer, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, has been announced. He passed away on Wednesday night, June 10, at Chira Memorial Hospital in Awkuzu, Oyi local government area of Anambra State. The late Professor Adichie, who celebrated his 88th birthday on March 1, was an Emeritus Professor of Statistics and Mathematics at the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) and was the first Nigerian Professor of Statistics, attaining the title in 1976. He is survived by his wife and children. May his soul rest in peace, Amen.

39.4m Nigerians might be unemployed by end of 2020 – Osinbajo

The Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, has disclosed that according to projections received by the economic sustainability committee, 39.4 million Nigerians might be unemployed by the end of 2020. He presented the committee’s report to President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, June 11, stating that the National Bureau of Statistics also projects a revenue shortfall of N185 billion monthly with oil prices at $30 a barrel. Osinbajo highlighted the need for prompt measures to prevent the realization of these projections.
