Mass Communication unbundled by NUC, no longer to be studied as a single course

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has declared that Mass Communication will no longer be offered as a single course of study in Nigerian universities. The commission's Secretary, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, made this announcement on behalf of the commission, stating that the new directive will come into effect from March 2020. Additionally, he revealed that a new curricula for communication studies will be provided to professors and communication practitioners in Nigeria. JAMB orders ABU to offer girl medicine after being accused of denying her the course because she is a Christian

The request from the Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, for the management of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) to grant admission in Medicine to Miss Shekwobyalo, came after a review meeting with various stakeholders. Despite her UTME score of 309, Miss Shekwobyalo accused the university of denying her admission in medicine because of her Christian faith. However, after the meeting, it was revealed that she was not the top candidate from Niger state.
