Kidnappers release Nasarawa student a week after she was abducted

Following the payment of a ransom, a student named Hauwa Kana, who was abducted by kidnappers in Nasarawa, Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, has been released.   According to reports, Kana, a 300 level Veterinary Medicine student of the Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto (UDUS), was abducted on Saturday, January 18 around 3 pm, along Mararaba-Edege road while returning to Nasarawa.   The kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N10 million for her release, which was later reduced to N5 million.   Her cousin, Eng. Muhammad, confirmed her release on Thursday, January 23, without disclosing the final amount of ransom that was paid.

Deadly shooting incident claims 6 lives in Germany

Reports confirm that 6 individuals lost their lives in a mass shooting that took place in Rot am See, a town located in southwestern Germany, on Friday, January 24.   Law enforcement has already apprehended a suspect in connection with the shooting, which occurred around 12:45 p.m. (1145 GMT) close to the town’s train station. Arrest Made in Katsina Forest: Two Suspected Kidnappers Apprehended (See Photos)

At Gwarjo village in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina, a joint security patrol arrested two suspected kidnappers on Thursday.   Abdullahi Rabiu and Isa Rabiu were apprehended in the forest with two Dane guns and some locally made ammunitions.     According to the police command's spokesman, Gambo Isah, the suspects will be transferred to the command headquarters for further investigation.   Isah mentioned that the purpose of the visit to the forest was to demolish a structure used for hiding kidnapped victims. He added that the security personnel are unwavering in their efforts to combat banditry and other criminal activities within the state.

Manchester United has been fined £20,000 for the conduct of its players during their 2-0 Premier League defeat to Liverpool on Sunday, January 19.
