Arrest Made in Katsina Forest: Two Suspected Kidnappers Apprehended (See Photos)

At Gwarjo village in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina, a joint security patrol arrested two suspected kidnappers on Thursday.   Abdullahi Rabiu and Isa Rabiu were apprehended in the forest with two Dane guns and some locally made ammunitions.     According to the police command's spokesman, Gambo Isah, the suspects will be transferred to the command headquarters for further investigation.   Isah mentioned that the purpose of the visit to the forest was to demolish a structure used for hiding kidnapped victims. He added that the security personnel are unwavering in their efforts to combat banditry and other criminal activities within the state.

Nigerian Lady Alleges Death Threats from President Buhari’s Media Aide, Lauretta Onochie

A Nigerian lady has accused Lauretta Onochie, media aide to President Buhari, of issuing death threats following a heated exchange on Twitter. The exchange was triggered by Nigeria's ranking of 146 out of 180 in Transparency International's recent report on corruption.   @TachaOfficial shared a screenshot of a DM exchange where Onochie allegedly insulted her. TachaOfficial stated that Onochie can't handle what she dishes out, citing Onochie's past remarks about former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili.   Below are the tweets:

Manchester United Fined £20,000 by FA for Player Behavior Towards Referee During Liverpool Match

Manchester United has been fined £20,000 for the conduct of its players during their 2-0 Premier League defeat to Liverpool on Sunday, January 19. During the game, approximately seven United players, including Captain Harry Maguire, David de Gea, and Luke Shaw, surrounded referee Craig Pawson in an aggressive protest against his decision to allow Roberto Firmino's goal to stand, despite a foul on David de Gea by Virgil Van Dijk. The FA released a statement, saying: "Manchester United FC has been fined £20,000 after admitting a breach of FA Rule E20 and accepting the standard penalty. The club failed to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the 26th minute of a Premier League fixture against Liverpool FC on 19 January 2020."

Former X-Factor star Danny Tetley receives a 9-year prison sentence for exploiting underage boys

Plateau records five cases of Lassa fever

The recent outbreak of Lassa fever in Plateau has been confirmed to have resulted in 5 cases, according to the State's Commissioner of Health, Dr Nimkong Ndam. In a statement made on Friday January 24, it was disclosed that two patients have been admitted at the state hospital, while three others are currently receiving treatment. The commissioner also mentioned that one patient has completed treatment and another has been discharged. Dr. Ndam assured the public that necessary measures are being taken to contain the disease and that health personnel are equipped with protective kits for handling such cases.
