76 people test positive for Lassa fever in Edo

The state of Edo has reported 76 positive cases of Lassa fever out of 175 suspected cases that were tested. The figure was announced by the Edo State commissioner of health, Dr. Patrick Okundia during a Lassa fever committee meeting. The meeting was chaired by the State's Deputy Governor, Mr. Philip Shaibu, along with a representative from the World Health Organization. Dr. Okundia stated that 76 suspected cases of Lassa fever were confirmed, and those individuals are currently receiving treatment at the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital. On Friday January 24, travellers near the Rigasa train station in Kaduna state were reportedly targeted in an attack by gunmen.
