Comedian reportedly detained by Akwa Ibom government official due to Facebook posts

Reportedly, an Akwa Ibom comedian known as Sir James was arrested on Wednesday January 15, allegedly at the behest of an Akwa Ibom government official who claimed that Sir James' Facebook posts were damaging to the commissioner for tourism in the state, Orman Esin.   Prior to his arrest, the comedian had initiated an online campaign to protest against the purported poor treatment of local entertainers in the state. Nigerian ladies trafficked to Lebanon beg for rescue after allegedly being shut out by the Nigerian embassy (video)

Nigerian women who have been trafficked to Lebanon are pleading for assistance after allegedly being turned away by the Nigerian embassy. The appeal comes shortly after two other Nigerian women, who were also trafficked to Lebanon, were rescued by the Nigerian government. The distressed women, who filmed their plea at the Nigerian embassy in Lebanon, claim they were asked to leave the premises with nowhere else to go. They urgently need food and money.
