One feared dead as residents protest killing of Remo football star (photo/video)
Residents of Sagamu, Ogun state expressed outrage over the killing of Tiyamiyu Kazeem, a star player of Remo football club, which resulted in at least one confirmed death during the protests. Kazeem, also known as Kaka, was allegedly murdered by operatives of the Zonal Intervention Squad along the Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway after his arrest in the Obada area of the state.
The protest quickly turned violent leading to the death of one protester as residents marched to the Palace of the Akarigbo and the Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, demanding justice for the deceased. In response to the situation, armed policemen were deployed in the town to prevent any further escalation of the unrest.
