Tragic Accident: 15 dead and 38 injured after a truck veers into a river in Ogun (see photos)
A Toyota Canter truck plunged into dried Omi river on the Ibadan-Ijebu Ode road, resulting in the tragic death of at least 15 people and leaving 38 others with various injuries.
The Ogun Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Clement Oladele, confirmed the incident in Abeokuta on Tuesday. He stated that the accident involved a white-colored Mitsubishi Canter with the registration number XE 331 MKA, carrying passengers from Sokoto state.
Oladele suggested that driver fatigue could be the suspected cause of the crash, leading the vehicle to veer off the road and collide with the dried Omi river.
