The recent demolition of Nigerian Embassy staff quarters in Ghana has prompted Nigeria to acknowledge its failure to obtain a land title certificate or a building permit for the new structure at the Nigerian High Commission in Accra. Foreign Affairs Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama, admitted the mistake but emphasized that it did not justify the demolition.
He revealed that the Ghanaian government has taken responsibility for the demolition and assured that the structure will be rebuilt to its original state. Onyeama attributed the demolition to an error on the part of the Nigerian High Commission and stressed the need for improved documentation and record-keeping processes.
