On Tuesday, July 7, an unfortunate incident occurred in Aba, Abia State, as a member of the police force reportedly shot and killed one Abia revenue taskforce official while injuring another. The incident caused a great deal of tension in the area. According to eyewitness accounts, the shooting took place when a policeman associated with Crunches, a fast-food restaurant, opened fire on the Abia State Taskforce Board of Internal Revenue. Ondo assembly suspends deputy speaker

The suspension of the deputy speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly has been announced. Irioju Ogundeji and another member, Adewale Williams, were suspended for opposing the impeachment of the state governor, Agboola Ajayi. Ajayi had been served an impeachment notice by 14 members of the house, citing alleged gross misconduct, financial recklessness, and negligence of duty. Despite being among the nine lawmakers who contested the impeachment process against Ajayi, Ogundeji and Adewale Williams were suspended for their purported unruly behavior. Additionally, Jamiu Maito, another lawmaker known to support Ajayi, resigned from his position as the majority leader of the assembly.
