In Lagos, Justice Oluremi Oguntoyinbo of the Federal High Court has sentenced two men, Uche Johnson and Kingsley Meteke, to two years in prison for the production and distribution of fake engine oil. The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) brought four charges against the men for producing, possessing, dealing in, and distributing substandard engine oil. The products failed to meet SON's Conformity Assessment Programme (SONCAP) standards. Initially, both men pleaded not guilty but later changed their plea to guilty. The judge ruled that their sentence would commence from January 27, 2019, the date of their arrest.
