ASUU strike is illegal – FG insists on ‘no work, no pay’

The Federal Government has declared the two-weeks warning strike by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities as illegal. Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige accused ASUU of not following laid down procedures before embarking on the industrial action. He insisted on “no work, no pay” policy as he confirmed that the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System (IPPIS) led to the strike. Ngige said; “I am in shock. The Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) has indicted 10 aides of Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.  The aides were supposed to disclose monies and assets to the CCB within a specific timeframe after taking office.
