In Rivers State, three individuals have tragically succumbed to the recent Lassa fever outbreak that has gripped the country.    Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Chinwe Atata, has confirmed the deaths and announced the implementation of proactive measures to contain the outbreak.   Speaking at a press briefing on Wednesday, January 29, Dr. Atata stated;    “We have received preliminary confirmation that three of the samples tested positive for the Lassa virus. Reports indicate that Adebayo Mukaila, a corps member, was fatally shot on Tuesday, January 28 in an attack by two robbers in Osun State.   The unfortunate incident occurred as Mukaila was making his way home after closing his shop, where he conducted transactions involving the sale of recharge cards and operated a money transfer business through a Point of Sales (PoS) machine.   Despite gunshots being heard by residents in the community around 11pm on the day of the attack, they hesitated to come to Mukaila's aid.
