Former Senator Shehu Sani Released by EFCC After 4 Weeks in Detention

After meeting his bail conditions, former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani has been released from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.   It can be recalled that Sani was arrested on December 31, 2019, and was later granted a N10m bail after being arraigned before Justice Inyang Ekwo on two counts of fraud. The charges were related to an alleged extortion of $25,000 from a businessman in November 2019, with accusations of passing the money to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad and the acting Chairman of EFCC, Ibrahim Magu.     As part of his bail conditions, Sani had to submit his international passport to the court and provide a surety with a landed property worth the bail sum.
