German government permits Bundesliga to resume football matches in second half of May amidst Coronavirus pandemic
German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, has granted approval for the German Bundesliga to recommence football activities in the latter part of May as the country relaxes lockdown measures during the Coronavirus Pandemic.
The government has authorized the league to resume, but all players must undergo a week of quarantine before the football action can restart. Furthermore, matches will be held behind closed doors with a maximum of 322 people in attendance.
The Bundesliga will now make a decision on whether to resume on May 15, the earliest possible restart date, or on May 22.
