The disciplinary committee of University of Calabar (UNICAL) has taken action against a 200-level student who was found smoking marijuana on campus. The student, identified as Uzoagba Chinaemerem from the Department of Physics, was reportedly caught in Hall 4 of the institution's Male Hostel on 27th November, 2019. A letter signed by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Zana Akpagu, and dated 17 January, 2020, stated that Uzoagba Chinaemerem would be suspended until the Students' Disciplinary Committee completes its investigation. Man accused of killing his missing wife ‘dies in hospital two days after suicide attempt’

A 52-year-old man, who had been facing charges for the murder of his estranged wife after her disappearance, passed away two days following a suicide attempt.   According to a statement from Norm Pattis, the lawyer representing Fotis Dulos, his client died just after 5.30pm at Jacobi Medical Center on Thursday in the Bronx, New York. Mr. Pattis expressed, "Mr. Dulos was tried and convicted in the court of public opinion. Now he has been executed." On Thursday January 30, former Edo State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Henry Idajagbon, was the victim of a gun attack.   The assailants arrived at his law chamber near the Oliha Market in Benin-City in three vehicles. They proceeded to destroy property, and reportedly fired several shots at his office.
