US Drug Enforcement Agency: Sinaloa Cartel Poses Greatest Drug Threat to U.S.
According to the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), the Sinaloa Cartel, led by the notorious Joaquín 'El Chapo' Guzmán, remains the most significant criminal drug threat to the United States, despite El Chapo serving a life sentence.
Highlighted in the 2019 National Drug Threat Assessment report, the DEA emphasized that the Sinaloa Cartel, established in 1988, has "the most expansive footprint in the United States."
The report also identified the Sinaloa Cartel as one of the Mexican organizations posing the greatest criminal drug threat to the U.S., with no other groups positioned to challenge its dominance.
