PDP writes UK, US and EU over Ihedioha's loss at the Supreme Court

The loss of Emeka Ihedioha at the Supreme Court to Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress has prompted the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to address a petition to the United Kingdom, United States, and the European Union. Uche Secondus, the chairman of PDP, led a protest to the US embassy and the UK high commission in Abuja on Friday January 31 to reinforce their concerns. Apart from Uche Secondus, the protest involved the participation of Senate Minority Leader Enyinnaya Abaribe, former President of the Senate Adolphus Wabara, former Imo State governor Chief Achike Udenwa, and members of the National Working Committee (NWC). Nigerians in Chinese city affected by coronavirus unwilling to return home – Lai Mohammed

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed has revealed that Nigerians residing in the Chinese city of Wuhan, where the coronavirus was first detected, have indicated reluctance to return home.   Speaking at a press conference on Friday, January 31, Lai Mohammed acknowledged that the federal government cannot prohibit Nigerians from traveling to China. The four men arrested and detained in the cell of the Eagle Crack, (E-Crack) Squad of the Rivers State Police have been narrating their ordeal following their release from detention. Recall that Victor Ogbonna, Osaze Friday, Ifeanyi Osuji, Ifeanyi Onyekwere and late Chima Ikwunado, were arrested on December 19, 2019. They were allegedly tortured in detention to admit that they stole one of the cars they were repairing. However, the owners of the cars, Eradiri Erepamo and Chinedu Ezenwaliri later said that their vehicles were not stolen but given to the arrested men for repair. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Director-General, Oke-Osanyintolu, has taken legal action against his ex-lover, Ms Olaide Ibraheem, regarding their dispute over ownership of a property located at No.1 Baba Yusuf Close in Alausa, Lagos. Ibraheem was initially arraigned before the Igbosere High Court on May 22, 2017, on charges including forgery, forcible entry, and criminal damage of the property. These charges were in connection to the disputed property allegedly belonging to Oke-Osanyintolu. During the trial, the LASEMA boss' personal assistant and a signature expert testified in court, while Ibraheem called in six witnesses, including a surveyor and a police officer. Trump administration announces addition of Nigeria & 5 other countries to Travel ban list

On Friday night, the US State Department declared the inclusion of six new countries in its travel ban list.   President Trump signed a proclamation on Friday, imposing visa restrictions on citizens from Eritrea, Myanmar, Kyrgyzstan, and Nigeria - the most populous country in Africa.   Sudan and Tanzania will also be prohibited from participating in the diversity visa lottery, while the six countries will join the existing list of seven nations facing significant travel restrictions under President Trump’s original travel ban issued in 2017, which includes Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria, Yemen, Venezuela, and North Korea.   However, visitors from the newly added nations can still enter the US for business or pleasure, unlike travelers from the original five countries.                   ...

Watchdog Advises Russians: No Kissing or Hugging Due to Coronavirus

The country's consumer health watchdog has urged Russians to avoid traditional greetings such as handshakes, kisses, and hugs. They are also advised to wear medical masks in crowded public places.   Despite imposing border restrictions to prevent the spread of the virus from China, Russia has not yet confirmed any coronavirus cases.
