US bans entry for foreigners who recently visited China as death toll reaches 259
On Friday, January 31, the United States government declared the coronavirus outbreak a health emergency and announced a ban on entry for foreign nationals who have recently visited China.
Alex Azar, the secretary of Health and Human Services, also stated that American citizens who have traveled to China’s Hubei Province, the epicenter of the virus, within the past two weeks will be subject to a mandatory 14-day quarantine, which is the incubation period of the virus.
Starting from February 2, the temporary measure will also require Americans who have visited other parts of mainland China to undergo special health screening upon their return, followed by up to 14 days of “monitored self-quarantine” under the temporary restrictions.

Following the January 14th Supreme Court ruling which removed Emeka Ihedioha as the governor of Imo state and replaced him with APC's Hope Uzodinma, members of the Peoples Democratic Party, led by chairman Uche Secondus, staged a peaceful protest at the US and UK embassies on Friday, January 31st.
During the protest, the PDP members submitted petitions to the embassies, urging a reversal of the Supreme Court's judgement and the reinstatement of Ihedioha as the governor of Imo state.
Reacting to the protest, Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, described the action by the PDP members as nothing short of "Comedy at its best".

These nations include Nigeria, Algeria, Angola, Ivory Coast, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritius, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. They have been identified due to their direct links or a high volume of travel to China.

Man Receives 12-Year Prison Sentence for Illegal Petroleum Dealing
Olaniyi Oluwasayo Oladele has been sentenced to 12 years in prison with the option of a N100,000 fine for engaging in illegal petroleum product dealings without the appropriate license. The conviction was handed down by Justice J. K. Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Friday, January 31, 2020.
According to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the offence contravenes Section 1 (17) (a) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act Cap M17 of the Revised Edition (Laws of the Federation of Nigeria) Act 2007 and is punishable under Section 1 (18) (a) (i) of the same Act.
