UK Decides to Bring Some Staff Members Back Home from Chinese Embassy

Following the outbreak of the coronavirus, the United Kingdom has taken the decision to withdraw some of its embassy and consulate staff from China. This was confirmed in a statement released on Saturday, February 1.   The statement emphasized that essential staff required for critical operations will remain in the country.   The UK authorities have also acknowledged that if the health situation within China continues to worsen, the British Embassy and Consulates may have limited capacity to assist British nationals in the country.   Part of the statement reads:   “As of 31 January, some staff and dependants from the British Embassy and Consulates are being withdrawn from China. Tragic Incident in Lagos: Woman Fatally Injured by Container-Laden Truck

Today, on February 1st, an unidentified woman tragically lost her life in the Ojota area of Lagos State when a Mack truck carrying a container crashed under a bridge. The container, which fell off the truck, tragically caused the woman and two others to become trapped, with the woman reportedly passing away at the scene. Fortunately, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency successfully rescued the male victims who were trapped beneath the container. They were promptly transported to the nearest trauma center for urgent medical attention, whereas the deceased victim's body was taken to the morgue.
