An Outbreak of Lassa Fever in Kaduna Leads to One Death, with Another New Case Confirmed

The recent outbreak of Lassa fever in Kaduna has resulted in the death of another patient, just a week after the first fatality.    In an announcement made on Saturday, February 1, the Kaduna State Government disclosed that a new case has been identified as a 34-year-old man who is currently receiving treatment at the Infectious Disease Control Centre.   Dr Amina Mohammed-Baloni, the State's Commissioner for Health, mentioned that out of 23 suspected cases, 15 tested negative, while six test samples are still pending. Alleged Suicide of LASTMA Official

Reports indicate that an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) has taken his own life. The individual, known only as Akinde, was discovered hanging from a tree in Opebi, close to the well-known Adebola House. Some individuals on social media have suggested that Akinde may have been dealing with mental health issues, while others have alleged that his unhappiness with being relocated from Alausa could have played a role. The body of the deceased was recovered by the Lagos State Ambulance Service and taken to the mortuary at IDH Hospital in Yaba.

Tragic Incident in Lagos: Woman Fatally Injured by Container-Laden Truck

Today, on February 1st, an unidentified woman tragically lost her life in the Ojota area of Lagos State when a Mack truck carrying a container crashed under a bridge. The container, which fell off the truck, tragically caused the woman and two others to become trapped, with the woman reportedly passing away at the scene. Fortunately, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency successfully rescued the male victims who were trapped beneath the container. They were promptly transported to the nearest trauma center for urgent medical attention, whereas the deceased victim's body was taken to the morgue.
