The refusal of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) to register the non-profit organization of the Lesbian Equality and Empowerment Initiative has led to a lawsuit being filed against the commission at the Court of Appeal. The update on the lawsuit was provided by LGBT activist, Pamela Adie, who, along with her team, decided to appeal the federal high court judgment that struck out their initial lawsuit against the CAC. Attack by Suspected Armed Militia Results in Beheading of Two Farmers in Taraba State

At a farm in Dapye village in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba state, two farmers were killed and beheaded by suspected armed militia over the weekend.   The assailants, believed to be Tiv militias from Benue State, crossed into the area and carried out the attack on the farmers while they were working on their farm.   Mr. Adigrace Daniel, the chairman of Wukari Local Government Area, confirmed the incident and mentioned that the area had been peaceful before this deadly attack.   The victims were identified as Simon Bala and Timothy Awe, and their killing has raised concerns about the security situation in the area.   Despite the confirmation of the incident by the police spokesman in Taraba state, DSP David Misal, no arrests have been made in connection with the attack.

Reports have emerged claiming that some men allegedly issued threats to flog students of Kano Law School who had visited villages in the state to educate women about their rights.   According to Lopetee, a Mental Health Advocate based in Kano, the women in the villages reported the students to their husbands.   It is alleged that the men accused the students of teaching their wives to be disrespectful and warned them never to return to their villages, threatening them with the possibility of being flogged. Schools, worship centers, markets, motor parks and owners of other public places have been called upon by the Kaduna State Police Command to reinstate checks on luggage. This comes barely 24 hours after a suspected suicide bomber, Nathaniel Samuel, was apprehended at the Living Faith Church in Sabon Tasha, Kaduna.   In a press statement released by the command's spokesperson, Yakubu Sabo, police officers have been instructed to heighten surveillance and collaborate with stakeholders within their respective jurisdictions to ensure collective vigilance.   The police have assured the public of their safety, as they are diligently working to thwart any planned attacks in the state.
