Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, addressed the ban of commercial motorcycles (okadas) and tricycles on major Lagos roads enforced by the State government on February 1.   Amaechi emphasized that it isn't within the federal government's jurisdiction to dictate to state governments on transport policy, as it is primarily a state affair.   He clarified, saying:   “Implementation of transport policy is essentially a state affair. So you can’t be telling a state whether they want ‘okada’ or tricycles or not. That’s not our responsibility. It is for the state government to decide what to do.”   Amaechi acknowledged that Lagos State government had valid reasons for the ban.
