Seven IPOB members arrested in Abia

The security agencies have arrested seven members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) following a protest in Aba on Monday June 8. The protest was against the alleged killing of Christians and Biafrans in the country. The arrested members were seen with Biafran flags, charms, and different insignia as they began the protest at the Ala Oji Flyover in Ugwunagbo Local Government Area. Global COVID-19 Cases Surpass Seven Million Mark

  The total number of confirmed novel coronavirus cases worldwide surpassed seven million on Monday, as reported by the US-based Johns Hopkins University.   According to the university's data, the global cases have reached 7,132,732 with 406,959 fatalities, while the number of recoveries has exceeded 3,480,161.   The US continues to be the worst-hit country, with over 1.98 million infections and a death toll exceeding 117,500.   Following the US, Brazil has the second-highest number of cases worldwide, with more than 691,700, followed by Russia with around 467,000 and the UK with over 287,600 cases.

Five Gombe lawmakers found to be positive for COVID-19

Five members of the Gombe state House of Assembly have tested positive for COVID-19. Today, June 8, Chairman of the state task force on COVID-19, Prof Idris Mohammed, revealed this while addressing the media on the state's efforts to combat the novel Coronavirus. According to Mohammed, the lawmakers, whose identities were not disclosed, have been admitted at different isolation centers in the state. The state currently has 217 confirmed cases of the viral disease.
