Akin Abayomi mentioned that areas such as Alimosho, Oshodi, and Isolo in the state have observed a surge in COVID-19 cases. Despite the rise in cases, the commissioner noted that 97% of positive cases at isolation centers were mild or moderate, with only 3% categorized as severe. General Ozigi surrenders N426m to Nigerian government

An amount of N426.7 million traced to retired Brigadier-General John Onimisi Ozigi (rtd) has been ordered to be forfeited to the Nigerian government by a Federal High Court in Lagos on Friday, May 8.   The forfeiture was granted following a motion filed by Ekereuwem Anana, counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in the case which also involves Diamond Head Ventures and Dev. Company Ltd as respondents.    Justice Muslim Hassan pointed out that the money linked to the retired Brigadier-General exceeded his monthly salary of N750,000.   The federal high court judge concluded that the respondents failed to provide substantial evidence to justify why the money suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activities should not be surrendered to the government.   According to...

Pregnant woman loses her baby allegedly after Rivers State Police detained her and her husband on their way to the hospital

A tragic incident has been reported where a pregnant woman allegedly lost her baby after being detained by the Rivers State Police alongside her husband while they were on their way to the hospital. According to media personality Kofi Bartels, the couple's detention was a result of the lockdown order imposed by Governor Nyesom Wike, which restricts movement without an exemption letter or permit from the government. Due to their lack of the required documentation, the couple was detained, causing a significant delay in their journey to the hospital. Unfortunately, by the time they were released and managed to reach the hospital, it was too late and the baby had already been lost. Blaming the tragedy on the perceived loopholes in Governor Wike's lockdown directives, Kofi Bartels expressed...
