Civil servants on levels 12 and 13 have been instructed by the Federal government to immediately return to work.   Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, these workers have been working from home since March this year. 290 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Nigeria

On Monday, August 10, Nigeria reported 290 fresh cases of COVID-19.   The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) stated that Lagos and the FCT recorded 82 new cases each.   Other states with fresh cases are as follows: Oyo – 19, FCT – 18; Edo – 16; Kaduna – 15; Enugu -9; Ogun – 9; Kano -8; Kwara – 8; Cross River -5; Ondo – 5; Rivers -5; Ekiti -4; Imo – 3 and Borno – 2.   The total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria now stand at 46,867. An enormous fire erupted at an industrial estate in Birmingham, UK, and more than 100 firefighters are currently working to extinguish it. The blaze, which started at the Tyseley Industrial Estate, is believed to involve the plastics recycling company GW Webb Plastics. According to the West Midlands Fire Service, the severe fire is expected to last late into the night. Nearby residents have been advised to keep their doors and windows closed to avoid toxic fumes. Massive Gas Station Explosion in Russia Results in at least 13 Injuries (Photos/Video)

Reports indicate that at least 13 people have been injured following a massive explosion at a gas station in Russia.   Occurring in Volgograd city, the blast was attributed to a propane tank catching fire at a local gas station in the Traktorozavodsky district, according to the Russian Emergencies Ministry.   Firefighters arrived at the scene at 11:30am local time, but initial efforts to contain the fire proved unsuccessful.   Video footage captured a large fireball shooting into the sky, with the intense flames visible from a distance, followed by thick black smoke.     Initial reports suggested that only four to six individuals were affected by the initial blast, but rescuers also sustained injuries due to subsequent small explosions.   All victims were transported...
