Accusations have been leveled by Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, who claimed that members of the opposition paid individuals to heckle the president during his recent visit to Borno state on Wednesday, February 13th. The President's visit to Borno State was a show of empathy following the terror attack in Auno community on Sunday, February 9th. Amotekun Establishment Law Approved by Ekiti

The Ekiti State Executive Council has approved a bill for the establishment of the Ekiti State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps.   Presented by the state’s attorney general, Wale Fapohunda, the Draft Law for the establishment of Ekiti State Security Network codenamed "Amotekun" was received by Governor Kayode Fayemi in Ado Ekiti on Monday, February 10.   According to a statement released on Thursday, February 13 by Governor Fayemi's Chief Press Secretary Yinka Oyebode, the bill will be forwarded to the State House of Assembly for legislative processing and subsequent passage into law.

Court grants journalist, Agba Jalingo, N10m bail

Journalist and rights activist, Agba Jalingo, has been granted bail by Justice Sule Shuaibu of the Federal High court in Calabar, Cross River State.   Jalingo, the publisher of CrossRiverWatch, was arrested on August 22nd 2019, following a report alleging that Cross River State governor, Ben Ayade, diverted N500 million belonging to the state. He is facing charges related to terrorism, treasonable felony, and attempt to topple the Cross River State government.   In granting the bail application, Justice Shuaibu set the bail bond at N10 million with one surety in like sum.
