Senator Douye Diri received congratulations from former Bayelsa East Senatorial district representative, Ben Murray-Bruce, following his Supreme Court victory on February 13.   Previously, the apex court's five-man panel, led by Justice Mary Peter-Odili, nullified the election due to the deputy governor-elect Degi-Eremieoyo's use of forged certificates.   The court directed the Independent National Electoral Commission to revoke the certificate of Return issued to the All Progressives Congress’ candidates, who were initially declared winners of the November 16th 2019 governorship election in the state, and to issue new certificates to the PDP candidates, with Douye Diri reportedly receiving the next highest number of votes during the election.   In his congratulatory message to Senat...

North Korea ‘executes Govt official suspected of having coronavirus for visiting a public bath’

Amotekun Establishment Law Approved by Ekiti

The Ekiti State Executive Council has approved a bill for the establishment of the Ekiti State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps.   Presented by the state’s attorney general, Wale Fapohunda, the Draft Law for the establishment of Ekiti State Security Network codenamed "Amotekun" was received by Governor Kayode Fayemi in Ado Ekiti on Monday, February 10.   According to a statement released on Thursday, February 13 by Governor Fayemi's Chief Press Secretary Yinka Oyebode, the bill will be forwarded to the State House of Assembly for legislative processing and subsequent passage into law.
