Imo state House of Assembly bans all kinds of protests in the state

The state Assembly in Imo has made it illegal to organize protests within the state. This decision comes following a series of protests by PDP members against the Supreme Court's January 14th ruling, which overturned the election of former governor Emeka Ihedioha and declared Hope Uzodinma, an APC member, as the new governor. The Assembly, now predominantly led by the APC due to several defections from other parties, cited the dangers that protests pose to the residents of Imo as the reason for their decision during the February 13th plenary session. Additionally, a warning was issued to the PDP to cease their opposition regarding the Apex Court's decision. Furthermore, the Assembly expressed its support for Governor Hope Uzondinma and the Supreme Court through a vote of confidence.

Utah Senate committee unanimously approves bill to decriminalize polygamy

A bill aiming to decriminalize polygamy among consenting adults in Utah received unanimous approval from a state Senate committee this week. The legislation has been forwarded to the full chamber for a vote, as reported by The Salt Lake City Tribune.   The Utah Senate Judiciary, Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Committee advanced the bill following testimonies highlighting how the current state law on polygamy unjustly categorizes law-abiding citizens as criminals.   The sponsor of the bill, Utah Sen. Deidre Henderson, emphasized that the existing laws criminalizing polygamy create barriers for victims of abuse or fraud within polygamist families, preventing them from coming forward due to fear of arrest.   Henderson stressed, "The indiv...
