Bayelsa state governor-elect, Duoye Diri, sworn-in (photos)
The governor-elect of Bayelsa state, Duoye Diri, has been inaugurated as the new governor of the state. The swearing-in ceremony was conducted in the evening at the Government House in Yenagoa, the state capital, by the state Chief Judge, Justice Kate Abiri, who administered the oaths of office and allegiance to Diri. Additionally, the deputy governor-elect, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, also took his oaths of office and allegiance during the ceremony.
The inauguration of Diri and Ewhrudjakpo followed the Supreme Court's ruling to sack the former governor-elect, David Lyon, and his Deputy, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremieoyo. The images of the ceremony can be viewed below.
